Club Glove’s TRS Ballistic Luggage:
Making the Best Even Better

With over 20 years of experience in luggage manufacturing and a reputation for innovation and durability, Club Glove has set a new standard in American made luggage once again. The goal was simple: Club Glove set out to create a brand new premium line of luggage built from the most durable materials we could find. For most companies creating more durable luggage would be simple, but Club Glove already had the #1 golf travel bag and the #1 luggage in all of golf according to Darrel Survey results. We were already sporting high quality materials and a lifetime guarantee. Where could we go from here?

The new line would have to be made from the most durable luggage materials. So, how do you improve on what is widely considered to be the best travel gear on the market? You go ballistic! The new line would be made from ballistic nylon. Specifically, US woven military spec Invista CORDURA brand 1050d ballistic nylon. This ballistic nylon is 9x stronger than polyester fabric and was a perfect material to use for our first prototype ballistic bag. Along with the ballistic nylon, the prototype ballistic bags were to include the Club Glove patented wheel base, 4-Panel seat belt webbing, YKK Zippers and ITW Nexus buckles, known to be the best zippers & hardware available.

In 2011 the brand new 3-piece premium luggage line was brought to market as Club Glove’s TRS BALLISTIC LUGGAGE. The line’s durability, style and innovations (nesting doll style storage of all three bags, integrated TRS Luggage Connection System) were quickly snapped up by professional golfers and avid travelers alike.

Brought on by the massive success of the TRS Ballistic Luggage line, 2012 introduced an expansion of the line in the form of the Dual Access Shoulder Bag (a ballistic bag for laptops and documents) and the Executive Backpack. A black with bronze webbing was also introduced as an alternative to the standard black TRS Ballistic Luggage. 2012 also saw an expansion of TRS Ballistic celebrity clientele. Along with PGA players, the MLB and NFL also began going Ballistic.

Riding the crest of success, Club Glove introduced the perfect overnight bag in 2013. The TravelRx is the newest member of the TRS Ballistic Luggage family. This over engineered Doctor style ballistic bag allowed you to divide the ample space into two sections, including a lower vented compartment. Already a Golf Digest “Editor’s Pick” and dubbed one of Sports Illustrated’s Golf.com “Hot Products at the 2013 PGA Show”, the TravelRX has proven to be a worthy addition to Club Gloves TRS Ballistic Luggage line.

Club Glove's Last Bag still leading

By Jonathan Wall, PGATOUR.COM Equipment Insider

Professional golfers are constantly on the road, traveling from tournament to tournament with their golf clubs in tow. Most players on the PGA TOUR log anywhere from 20-25 starts each year — which means the travel bag that's keeping their clubs safe during each trip takes a beating.

"The last thing you want to worry about is your clubs making it to the course in one piece," said Jeff Herold, Club Glove's founder and president. "These guys have enough on their plate before the tournament starts."

Club Glove's Last Bag has been the top travel bag on the PGA TOUR since 1998 and, according to Club Glove, is currently used by more than 90 percent of PGA TOUR players.

While the figure may seem high, Rickie Fowler provided confirmation recently when he tweeted a photo of the players' locker room on a Monday afternoon with stacks of Club Glove bags waiting to be unloaded.

"Darrell Survey used to do a travel bag count several years back, but the count was so lopsided in our favor that they stopped doing it," Herold said. "We honestly believe we have the best travel bag on the market, and players seem to think so as well. It's durable and you can use it forever."

The Last Bag weighs 10.6 pounds and is made with Cordura 1000 D water resistant nylon that's up to three times stronger and lasts up to five times longer than standard polyester. The standard version can hold the average stand bag and a driver that's up to 47 inches, while the XL version holds tour staff bags.

The travel bag also has a high impact wheelbase with in-line skate wheels that make it easy to maneuver, two exterior shoe pockets and an over the top zipper for easy loading and unloading.

Golfers can also add additional protection with Club Glove's Stiff Arm ($26.95). The fully adjustable telescoping crutch expands to fit just over the top of the tallest club in the bag for added protection during travel.

"We looked at everything and tried to figure out how we could make a bag that lasts," Herold said. "With the exception of adding updated zippers that are a little more durable and new straps, the bag, for the most part, has remained the same since we first designed it. We pride ourselves in the product we put out — especially since it's the only travel bag that's made in the USA."

Club Glove's Last Bag currently retails for $299; the XL version retails for $329. Both come with a limited lifetime warranty.

Golf's original and best microfiber towel preferred by top players worldwide

(HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA) - Club Glove® - a worldwide leader in the design and manufacture of premium golf bags, club covers, travel bags, accessories and luggage - confirms its renowned microfiber Caddy Towel was used by the winner of the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup.

Capturing her second victory of the season and ascending to the No.1 position in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings, the champion once again trusted the popular Blue Steel model at Wildfire Golf Club in Phoenix, AZ. Favored by the game's elite, the Caddy Towel ($19.95) features a contoured surface that is strong enough to remove dirt and debris from the club face or sunblock from a golfer's hands, yet gentle enough to safely clean eyeglasses.

"The world's best players rely on our towels over imitators because the superior quality and design help them perform at the highest level," says company founder Jeff Herold. "The Caddy Towel ensures that club heads, grips and hands remain clean, dry and ready for the next shot."

Featuring more than 5 million yards of microfiber strands, each towel can hold 300 percent of its weight in water. Available in an array of colors, the Caddy Towel is easily distinguishable by its waffle texture and contrasting stitched trim. Golf's original and best microfiber towel was introduced in 2006 and rapidly gained a loyal following among players who favored its ultra-lightweight, super absorbent and virtually lint free design.

The pro-sized Caddy Towel is available in a tandem package with a Pocket Towel that comes as a gift with purchase. A $10 value, the Pocket Towel measures 8"x12" and is perfectly unobtrusive in a back pocket. Club Glove also offers a customizable 16"x24" Cart Towel, available for corporate sales.

Club Gloves Caddy Towel A Winner
Posted on 2013 May 17

March 14,2013 - The A Position

Club Glove’s Caddy Towel – A Winner

It’s big and hungry.  And if you’ve never heard that description used for a golf towel, welcome to the world of Club Glove USA’s microfiber Caddy Towel.

I have the classic ‘white’ model.   Sporting a handsome waffle fabric design, edged with black stitching and monogrammed with the CG logo, it’s almost too classy to get dirty.  The towel measures 40-by-17 inches and has a 7 ½-inch finished slit in the middle, so it can drape over any club in your bag.

Like most microfiber fabrics, it has a soft sticky feel to it – eager to grab dirt and debris off your clubs, sunblock of your hands, or as the company says, “gentle enough to safely clean eyeglasses.”

The towel was ordered for use by the 2012 U.S. Ryder Cup team and was used by the winner of the 2013 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters earlier this year.

Featuring more than 5 million yards of microfiber strands, each towel is said to be able to hold 300 percent of its weight in water, which also makes it a good spur-of-moment bag cover on drizzly mornings or to guard against quick downpours.

Lightweight, super-absorbent and virtually lint-free, it does a nice job on sunglasses, computer screens and yes, golf clubs.

Adding the towel to Club Glove’s already successful product line was a logical next step, said company founder Jeff Herold.  “Like everything at Club Glove, we had to make something that was truly different and better than anything else on the market,” he said. “We contacted one of the larger microfiber suppliers in the nation and they sent a huge collection of material samples. Several could have been used for golf, but what caught our attention was the waffle pattern, which was reminiscent of bathrobes at luxury resorts and had the perfect texture for cleaning clubs by really getting into the grooves.

“The size was also important to us, as we wanted something that would be perfect for either a caddy or player to use. It had to be slender and not too large, so we settled on a perfect size of 17 by 40 inches,” he added.

Herold, an avid golfer, surfer, pilot and heli-skier, said the center-slit design of Club Glove’s Caddy Towel was based on his own course experiences.  “The towels I had always used were the large type that you would weave between clubs or drape over the club heads, however, I found that very often my towel would come loose and fall off. Inevitably, I’d be about 100 yards down the fairway by the time I realized this and would have to run back and retrieve it,” he said.

“When we designed our towel, we made sure there was an easy way to keep the towel secure, but to also allow quick access when needed. The solution was to add the slit.”

The pro-sized Caddy Towel ($19.95), comes with an 8-by-12-inch pocket towel, as a gift with purchase.  A customizable 16-by-24-inch cart towel, also is available for corporate sales.

Club Glove Stiff Arm: Review
Posted on 2013 May 17

CLUB GLOVE STIFF ARM

Score

87

Grade

B+

We worry about our precious clubs as much as anyone (all the more so after seeing the Lee Janzen’s clubs destroyed at the hands of Delta Airlines), so anything that can give us extra comfort that they will arrive safely when handing them over to the airlines is welcome to us. With that in mind, we decided to take the Club Glove Stiff Arm for a spin.

The Stiff Arm is designed to minimize vertical impact damage to your clubs, such as through dropping the bag clubhead-first into the ground from some height, as opposed to any horizontal blow, such as a truck driving over it. So place your bets as to how you think the airlines will take it to your clubs. Interestingly, the Stiff Arm is sold without a warranty, offered “AS-IS” (I’m having flashbacks to the back to purchase of my house), with the company noting that the Stiff Arm is “disposable”. Given that any damage to the Stiff Arm will weaken its protective properties, you should check the Stiff Arm after each use. Any damage? Out it goes…

Club Glove Stiff Arm

The Club Glove Stiff Arm arrives in two pieces – the 3-piece telescoping arm, as well as a curved plastic disc approximately 5.5″ in diameter that easily screws onto the top of the arm. The lightweight aluminum arm extends up to 54″ in length, so can be used for any length clubs, and is adjustable through spring-loaded adjustment pins on the arm itself (much like an adjustable crutch), down to 1 ¼” increments (see image at right). Fully collapsed the arm is only 28″ in length. The total weight of the arm and plastic head is 1.3 pounds as tested, so it adds just a bit to your maximum 50 pound limit before the airlines start tacking on additional fees.

It was easy to extend and adjust to the right length the 3-pieces of the arm. All pieces extended smoothly, and the rounded pins that are used to adjust the length work well (see image at right). There is also a small ridge in each of the arms to indicate where the pins are, so you don’t spin and spin the arms trying in vain to find the adjustment pin. We haven’t had any issues with depressing the pins, or the pins extending through the adjustment holes when we adjust the length of the arms. At the base of the arm is a soft rubber foot cap, 1 3/8″ in diameter, likely designed so the arm won’t have a sharp base to cut through a travel bag when there is a hard impact.

Club Glove Stiff Arm

Using the Stiff Arm is as easy as first adjusting the length so it is it is ½ “- 1 ½” longer than your longest club (to the impact is taken by the Stiff Arm), and then sliding it into your golf bag. On arrival or when storing, just slip the Stiff Arm slip back out of the bag, then depress the adjustable pins and collapse the arms. Given how quickly you can adjust the length, it makes it easy to store in hotel closets or in a folded golf travel bag. If you do need to unscrew the plastic protective disc on the arm, that can be easily done to store also.

If this level of protection isn’t enough for you when you travel, another option is a hard travel case, such as the Samsonite Hardside or SKB Deluxe (which will cover club damage up to $1,500!). Keep in mind that in most cases, airlines are not liable for damage to golf equipment that is not contained in a hard-sided case (read more about airline rules for traveling with golf clubs). Given that the Club Glove Stiff Arm is designed to absorb vertical blows only, those who are particularly concerned will want to give extra consideration to these hard cases. In general we don’t find them as easy to travel with as the best soft cases, but if you are looking for maximum protection, that is the route to take.

Looking at relative costs, $27 for the Club Glove Stiff Arm isn’t much to pay for some added security. As you know, United breaks guitars, so they might just break your clubs, too. While the Club Glove Still Arm doesn’t provide a warranty for either the Stiff Arm or your clubs, if the Stiff Arm protects your clubs even once from abuse by the airlines, you’ve covered the relatively small cost. We wouldn’t go so far as to say that it “eliminates nearly all risk of club breakage” as Club Glove markets, but it let’s us travel with a bit more peace of mind.

Retail price: $26.95

Our picks for the coolest, wackiest, and most innovative items on display this week in Orlando

January 2013
Lugging your golf bag through the airport -- while trying to balance your other suitcases -- can be one of the biggest frustrations of traveling. ClubGlove makes it easy. The luxury suitcase company unveiled its newest addition to its line of simple travel bags this week, the TravelRX bag. It's a "two-story" bag, allowing you to pack underneath the "floor." Snapping these bags into a "train reaction" line, making it easy to pull around.

Gearing Up: Club Glove
Posted on 2013 May 17

January 28,2013 - Back Nine Network

Gearing Up:

Club Glove

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Remember the time when Club Glove was the name of a company that only made golf club travel bags? Yeah, me neither.

Club Glove showcased their new line of products for the season at the 2013 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, and they were undoubtedly one of the busiest booths at the conference.

I met with founder and CEO Jeff Herold to review the company’s newest offerings and innovations you are sure to see at golf courses everywhere.

Since the company’s inception in 1990, Club Glove has been the optimal choice for luggage, golf travel bags, stand bags and various accessories for over 20 years. As Herold told me last week, their new 2013 line continues their tradition of providing truly innovative products to golfers of all ability levels.

Their new TRS Ballistic Bronze luggage raises the bar in style and user-friendliness. These bags are incredible. Not only can you attach a group of luggage of differing sizes together to help you race through the airport to catch a plane, but all the pieces are perfectly balanced with one another so there is no worry of dumping your bags. Their patented Train Reaction System (“TRS”, get it?) allows you to connect a travel bag to your carry-on with ease, leaving you with a train of bags easily directed with one hand.

Did you know Club Glove also makes on heck of a golf towel? Their microfiber PRO Tour Caddy Towel (which I have on my golf bag) features a textured design that holds 300 percent of its weight in water and will remain wet throughout your entire golf round. I have never used a towel that has been more convenient and reliable for cleaning my clubs or golf balls, even on the hottest days. Plus, they come in a variety of colors.

Finally, Herold took some time to introduce the company’s biggest innovation to date: the new TravelRx duffel bag.

“The TravelRx is a vintage-style bag that will be perfect for country clubs and golf resorts,” Herold explained. “The unique thing about this bag is its versatility. There are two different internal compartments that allow you to customize your bag depending on the type of items you are carrying.”

Herold demonstrated that the Travel Rx features a “false floor” that can be unzipped to allow for more storage for larger items. You can also keep the compartment zipped to allow for a second, lower space that perfectly fits a laptop.
The Best Luggage You've Never Heard About
Posted on 2013 May 17

December 18,2012 - Fit Globetrotter

As a travel writer, good luggage is imperative because it gets used a lot.  Not only does it have to be durable and stylish, it has to be carry-on sized because I abhor checking bags.

Club Glove TRS Ballistic BronzeTrio

For years I’ve relied on Tumi and Delsey, but Club Glove may have me switching my loyalties.  The first thing I notice when I receive the TRS Ballistic Carry-On, is that the black bag is striking with bronze straps; the second thing is that the bag is longer and narrower than my current bag.  I wonder if I’m going to be able to cram as much stuff into it.  Like my Tumi bags, Club Glove is made with ballistic nylon.  The Club Glove version is a military spec nylon ballistic fabric that affords two times the abrasion resistance and four times the tear resistance than other premium luggage brands.  My initial impression is that the bag is on par with Tumi, but the real test is how it performs, not how it looks.

On my last trip, a three-day cruise, requiring a mix of casual and dressy attire I used the Club Glove Carry-On ($699).  While I am only using the carry-on, the bag is part of the Club Glove Train Reaction System which would allow me to connect the checked-bag, carry-on and even a golf bag together so I could roll them all with just one handle.  The bags all come with three assorted size packing cubes-the secret as to why I could get just as much stuff (if not more) into the Club Glove bag.  Surprisingly, all my clothes fit using just the large packing bag.  I was also pleasantly surprised that arriving at my destination, the dresses weren’t wrinkled.

The narrow size of the bag (22.5Hx12Wx9D) also made it easier to maneuver down tight airplane aisles, and the patented wheel base allowed the bag to roll smoothly and easily.  While in transit several people commented on the attractiveness of the case.

Overall in its first real-world test the Club Glove Carry-On proved itself to be a worthy alternative to the popular Tumi and will be the bag I’ll be rolling down the aisle on my next trip.

TRS Ballistic Line by Club Glove: Review
Posted on 2013 May 17

December 12,2012 - Examiner.com

The Club Glove TRS (Train Reaction System) Ballistic luggage line is considered the world’s most durable and functional luggage. The luggage pieces connect easily together to create a perfectly balanced, easy to transport 4-wheeled train with integrated straps. This drastically reduces the amount of effort needed to transport gear.

The TRS Ballistic luggage is constructed of Invista™ Cordura® 1050 denier U.S. woven military spec nylon ballistic fabric which is the world’s most ideal material for high-end luggage. It has up to two times the abrasion resistance and four times the tear resistance compared to other premium brands using 1680 D fabrics, and the TRS luggage is up to nine times stronger than polyester fabrics. The ultra-durable CG (Club Glove) wheel base and retractable handle provide an ideal balance and convenience of traveling with one, two, or all three pieces.

Other features of the TRS Ballistic luggage include premium YKK® zippers and ITW Nexus® buckles, internal webbing with superior tensile strength, 12 packing modules (in three sizes), and all three pieces fit inside each other when not in use to minimize storage space.

One of the things I immediately noticed about the luggage was the durability. This system seems almost indestructible, and it seemed as if I was doing some kind of covert operation with how tough and slick it was. With all the gear and necessities needed on some of the outdoor adventures I take, sturdy luggage is needed so any damage can be avoided to the gear. After seeing and feeling the material that the TRS Ballistic luggage was made of, I felt that the luggage itself would not be damaged as well.

Packing with the TRS line was probably the most organized I’ve ever been. The packing modules actually made it so much nicer and everything seemed to be in much better order than folding or tossing everything in the case only to have to dig it out when you reach your destination. Being able to keep all my canyoneering and hiking gear and clothing separate from my everyday clothing was really very useful. I could just pull out the certain packing modules without making a total mess of the other items in the case.

Transporting the TRS Ballistic luggage was smooth. Club Glove wasn’t kidding when they mentioned it was a perfectly balanced system. It was pretty amazing how effortless it seemed while wheeling the luggage around.

All-in-all the TRS Ballistic luggage was excellent, extremely organized and very simple to transport. Even though Club Glove products are more known in the golf world, I would definitely recommend the TRS luggage to serious outdoor enthusiasts who travel constantly and need durable and versatile luggage to carry their gear. Although the price may seem pretty steep at $2248.00 for the 3-piece ensemble, this luggage is going to last you a very long time. You can also purchase the pieces separately.

The TRS Ballistic luggage is available at Golf Galaxy and Dick’s Sporting Goods.

As peripatetic golfers know all too well, travel is hard on the mind as well as the body. It also doesn’t do luggage much good, either, which is one reason to consider the latest offerings in that realm from Club Glove.

Club Glove is best recognized for the Last Bag golf travel cover it has sold for the past 10 years. But the company has also worked its way into the basic luggage picture for golfers, most recently with it TRS Ballistic line, which company officials say is used with regularity by more than 100 top-ranked touring professionals.

Available in five options, from the backpack model to XL check-in, the bags employ a military-spec material made of a 1050 denier Ballistic Nylon called Invista Cordura, which is designed to provide double the abrasion resistance and four times the tear resistance of other top brands.

Other TRS Ballistic features include a patented wheelbase and retractable handle that are engineered to be durable as they also provide balance and convenience, and packing modules made to make compartmentalization of clothing, toiletries, shoe and other items efficient and simple.

And when the models in the TRS Ballistic line are used as a set, travelers can take advantage of Club Glove’s patent-pending Train Reaction system, which allows for quick and easy connection of pieces while reducing the effort needed to pull or push gear by creating an optimal center of gravity.

TRS Ballistics come in two colors: solid black and a two-tone black-and-bronze scheme. In addition to the backpack and the XL check-in, the line also features a shoulder bag, a carry-on and a regular check-in. They are all offered for sale individually, or as a set.

The player received his Caddy Towel through a recent partnership between Club Glove and Nuun. Strong enough to remove dirt, grease and sunblock off a player's hands, yet gentle enough to safely clean eyeglasses, the towel was easily distinguishable on TV by its waffle texture and stitched trim.

"The vast majority of PGA Tour players trust our products to help ensure their equipment arrives at tournaments in top condition and stays that way on the course," says Club Glove founder Jeff Herold. "We're happy to report that Bill Haas is among the nearly 50 PGA Tour stars choosing to 'Go Ballistic' with our latest luggage innovation."

Designed for the affluent golfer or globetrotter, each piece in the TRS Ballistic line is crafted from U.S. woven INVISTA CORDURA® 1050 denier Nylon Ballistic fabric. When used as a set, TRS Ballistic showcases the renowned Train Reaction system that drastically reduces the amount of effort needed to pull or push gear by creating a perfect center of gravity to make bags feel weightless.

Club Glove is the undisputed No. 1 golf travel bag brand at all PGA and Champions Tour events. Used by more than 90 percent of PGA Tour players, the Last Bag was named one of the sport's top 10 innovations of the last 20 years by Golf Digest

A $10 value, the Pocket Towel measures 8 inches by 12 inches and is perfectly unobtrusive in a back pocket when conditions are damp and it's essential to clean your clubs and ball.
